Everyone Gets A Star Wars: Battlefront Beta!

maxresdefault (10)

That’s right! The beta for Star Wars: Battlefront will be available (both online and offline) to everyone courtesy of EA and DICE. No official date for the beta, but it is confirmed for an early October release.

In the offline mode, players will be able to explore Tatooine by alone or through the means of split-screen co-op by way of Survival Mission mode. Walker Assault on Hoth and Drop Zone on Sullust are also modes available in the beta.

It’s also worth noting that DICE is also working on a free Battle of Jakku DLC pack, which is scheduled to come out in early December. Again, there’s no concrete date for the beta release but the November 17 launch date will see to it that the beta makes its way sooner rather than later.

Fighter Squadron, Star Wars Battlefront’s New Mode Revealed!

A-Wings vs Tie FightersIt’s been awhile since we had a true and authentic flight simulator Star Wars game but at this past GamesCom 2015 in Germany last week, Electronic Arts revealed a new mode for Star Wars Battlefront called Fighter Squadron.

You remember the Rogue Squadron series? For those who don’t, the series lets you take the mantle of infamous ships such as the T-65 X-Wing to the X1 Tie Advanced. You fly these ships as you complete objectives against the Empire or Rebel Alliance, and compete in dogfights in space or various planets.

For Fighter Squadron mode, DICE is bringing that same feeling back from the past Rogue Squadron games but with up to 20 in a lobby for intense ship to ship battles. During matches, power-ups and upgrades come into play to give you advanced proton torpedoes or giving you the ability to pilot the Millennium Falcon!

Star Wars: Battlefront hits Playstation 4, XBOX One, and PC on November 17th, 2015.

Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst Gameplay Revealed at E3

mirrors-edge-catalyst-635x347

DICE’s Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst took the stage during EA’s press conference at E3 earlier and with it came some great news. Expect the return on February 23, 2016. As mentioned before, this will not be a sequel but a new game. This prequel of sorts will chronicle the origin of the main character Faith in the City of Glass.

The world is much bigger (and colorful) than before and creates a more appealing game. DICE also mentioned that the game will not see any loading screens or levels. With nothing like loading times or any sort of mandatory objectives to get in one’s way, this will bring a new meaning to the term free roaming.

Mirror’s Edge 2 Set for Early 2016 Release!

maxresdefault (3)

Fans of EA’s Mirror’s Edge were teased by the franchise’s return at E3 2013 and have been patiently waiting for something resembling news of a release date. Well, earnings reports from EA for 2015 list the much awaited sequel as a launch title for the fourth quarter of their fiscal year.

eaNow, Q4 for EA starts on the first of January and ends on March 31. So at this moment, everyone should expect a release somewhere in there. It doesn’t hurt that the studio DICE is overseeing the project and speaks about the game claiming it’s visually “elegant” and “minimalistic”. It’s great to hear because these are all properties that served the first game so well. Expect some new looks at the sequel when EA comes to E3 2015 starting on June 16 2015.
