Upcoming April Anime 2016

Spring is in the air and and the start of the spring anime lineup. I see a lot of good anime on this list so check them all out. I know I will.

Ushio & Tora (TV 2)

Second season an anime about the Aotsuki family who has maintained a Buddhist temple for five hundred years, and middle schooler Aotsuki Ushio’s stern father Shigure is the current priest. One day while cleaning his family’s storeroom, Ushio unwittingly discovers a long-hidden secret: the stories his father told him about a demon imprisoned by a magic spear were real! Having no choice but to remove the spear trapping the youkai named Tora, Ushio gets a new partner, whether he wants one or not. Ushio to Tora is the story of a boy, his youkai sidekick, and an artifact of dark magic called the Beast Spear. But Tora’s not the only youkai up and about: a powerful older youkai, Hakumen no Mono, is awakening as well-and in order to avoid disaster, unlikely alliances will need to be formed.

To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness (OAV 3)

A scan of Jump SQ’s September issue, to be released on August 4, revealed that the fifteenth volume of To LOVE-Ru Darkness will bundle a new OVA, which will be released on January 4. Consisting of two episodes, the OVA will run for a total of 25 minutes. One episode, titled Ghost Story Kowai no wa Ikaga (How about something scary?), will adapt a side-story from volume nine. The second episode, titled Clinic Sunao ni Narenakute (Without becoming obedient), will adapt chapter 38.

In a world where every event has been turned into programs, there are mysterious monsters known as “Promin” that maintain the world. However, many Promin who have turned into bugs known as “Bugmin” are responsible for many of the world’s real-life bugs. Left alone, they may eventually turn into a big problem. The boy Yūto encounters the space dog Wanda, and the pair use a camera-like device and key items to capture Bugmin. Promin themselves are able to do things like “accelerate objects,” “spew fire,” or “create objects,” through an ability known as “Kamiwaza” (miracle), and are able to fend off Bugmin with it. At first, the Bugmin only cause small, bothersome things, but it will soon elevate into a global scale threat.

Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare (movie 20)

On a dark night, the Japanese police is raided by a spy and different countries’ intelligence agencies’ secret files are going to be taken, but public safety officers led by Tooru Amuro arrive just in time. The spy steals a car and escapes but is thwarted by FBI agent Shuichi Akai’s rifle bullet and falls of the roadway. The next day, Conan and his friends go to an aquarium in Tokyo and find an attractive woman alone and injured. Her left and right eyes are different colors and she suffers from amnesia. Conan and his friends promise to help her regain her memory, so they stay with her. Throughout all this, Vermouth is watching behind the scenes. Afterwards, she pulls out a silencer and speaks into an attached intercom, “It’s as planned, Gin.”

After swearing off music due to an incident at the middle school regional brass band competition, euphonist Kumiko Oumae enters high school hoping for a fresh start. As fate would have it, she ends up being surrounded by people with an interest in the high school brass band. Kumiko finds the motivation she needs to make music once more with the help of her bandmates, some of whom are new like novice tubist Hazuki Katou; veteran contrabassist Sapphire Kawashima; and band vice president and fellow euphonist Asuka Tanaka. Others are old friends, like Kumiko’s childhood friend and hornist-turned-trombonist Shuuichi Tsukamoto, and trumpeter and bandmate from middle school, Reina Kousaka. However, in the band itself, chaos reigns supreme. Despite their intention to qualify for the national band competition, as they currently are, just competing in the local festival will be a challenge unless the new band advisor Noboru Taki does something about it.
