Now we knew Halo 5: Guardians would make an appearance at E3 with some new details and we expected 343 Industries to deliver… and they did.
Some background before we get to the new stuff is that Agent Jameson Locke is hunting down Master Chief. The demo shown now gives us a bit of a reason as to why.
It starts out with Locke and Osiris team going after Master Chief and we get to see a new item being used pretty early. Locke uses the Artemis to scan for clues. Not far away is the “Guardian” wondering if Master Chief has made it on board. The path that Locke and his crew are on begins to crumble and it is there that we see the returning Prometheans confronting Locke. Locke uses another new item in the Plasma Caster (which resembles a crossbow) to take them out and now the crew has the big Promethean to deal with and then some scenes of more of the Promethean creatures.
Multiplayer was also shown with the Warzone announcement and it looks to redefine what multiplayer used to be for the franchise. It has a striking resemblance to Battlefield with its spacious areas and players using both air and land vehicles to decimate their opponents. Check out the teaser below.
It’s not a whole lot of info from 343, but it got the job done. There is news that blue team would have a lot to do with Master Chief’s story. Not only that, but each character will get some significant exposure in the cooperative mode. Not the least of which will be Locke’s Osiris team. Halo 5: Guardians will be available for Xbox One on October 27, 2015.
