Yep everyone, It’s 2015 and Rockband is still alive. A press release and post on the official Harmonix website confirmed Rockband 4 for later this year. You can read some of the official announcement below.
“Harmonix is excited to announce that it is teaming up with Mad Catz to bring Rock Band™ 4, the next generation of the award-winning social and interactive music gaming platform, to PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft®.”
There have been fans clamoring for a new installment and it’s nice to see that they did not disappoint. Some of the additions to the new game actually include supporting all of your old DLC content from the previous Rockband game. Over 2000 tracks released since 2007 (when the first Rockband game debuted) will help to fill out the catalog. There’s still more details to be released in the near future, but you can sign-up at http://www.rockband.com/preorder for alerts on when the game will be available for pre-order. Oh and if you can get to PAX East in Boston (this Friday through Sunday), Harmonix will give you the option to pre-order an exclusive Penny Arcade-themed Rockband guitar (shown below) at their booth.
