Weaver Back In; Alien 3 and Resurrection May Be Out.

images (3)With Sigourney Weaver back in to reprise her role as Ellen Ripley, it seems as though Chappie Director Neil Blomkamp has decided to take his Aliens movie in a slightly different direction.

During the promotional tour for his upcoming movie Chappie,  Blomkamp recently spoke with Sky News about the film. He hinted towards the change  saying, “I want this film to feel like it is literally the genetic sibling of ‘Aliens.’ So it’s, ‘Alien,’ ‘Aliens,’ this movie.

A look at what Weavers “Ellen Ripley” may look like.

Weaver (also on the tour) shared similar sentiments about changing the continuity a bit when speaking about the iconic character she played in the previous two Alien films (dying in the third and a clone in Resurrection) saying, “I would love to take Ripley out of orbiting around in space and give a proper finish to what was such an excellent story.”

While the latter films in the Alien series may not have been as beloved as the first two, there is no doubt that changing the established history wont come without some struggles. However there is still plenty of time for them to make things work as Blomkamp’s Alien movie doesn’t have a set release date yet. Still, if you need your fill of sci-fi  Check out Chappie which also stars Sigourney Weaver and is in theaters March 6th.
